Teamwork

Posted by: mohans

Tagged in: Untagged

Teamwork is essential for competing in today's world, wherein individual perfection is not as desirable as a high level of collective performance.

Teamwork means "A joint action by a group of people, in which each person subordinates his or her individual interests and opinions to the unity and efficiency of the group.”

This does not mean that the individual is no longer important; however, it does mean that effective and efficient teamwork goes beyond individual accomplishment. The most effective teamwork is produced when all the individuals involved harmonize their contributions and work towards a common goal.  Teamwork has become an important part of the work culture and many business houses now look at teamwork skills, while evaluating a person for employment.

It's about everybody pulling in the same direction and not against each other.  Team work is important essence of each and every management. Team work is a back bone of any organization.

Excellence requires energy of soul, energy of mind and energy of body

When all the three ingredients are available as a team, tremendous synergy is generated. Individual intellectual quarks are therefore  useless

It is teamwork and nothing but teamwork which emerges as the winner.

Cohesive teams are only  changing the face of the world  and not individuals. A team does not imply just putting together  some people, appointing over them a team leader and assigning them a particular task for producing the finished product in a record time. It is much more complex then this.

Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, the ‘missile man of India’ has written

in his book Wings of Fire how he and his team worked on the missile project. He says, “The fact that I got them all together to share whatever little development had been achieved — results, experiences, small successes, and the like— seemed to me worth putting all my energy and time into. It was a very small price to pay for that commitment and sense of teamwork, which could in fact be called ‘trust’. Within my own small group of people forming a Team.

Building a team is therefore the process of transforming a set of people selected for the task into a role-oriented task force. If you train a specific team in teamwork, you train the members of the team a particular task or project. But if you train each member of the team in the art of effective teamwork, he will work as a team man for the rest of his life.

An ideal team may have the following characteristics:

• A common goal.

• Each individual knows his role.

• Every individual knows his job and the job of others.

• Each individual knows the overall goal.

• Every team has a leader.

• Members have a good understanding amongst them.

• Team members have faith in their leader.

• The team offers a platform for open discussions and

Suggestions as leaders also exist at every level & every situation..

The concept of team leaders is not a recent one but a very old and existing one. Armies had this concept very much in vogue in the past and in the present too. Without religiously following this concept, no army can move in its endeavour to maintain unity of command. At every level, there has to be a leader who must lead by example. Here there is no point to deal with leading men in battles, but to consider a more recent development of corporate leadership where, though the concept is same, except that the battle-grounds are different.

Leaders automatically emerge from among a group of people also in different difficult situations. Therefore  Successful teams need members having strong team Spirit and quality of Social Cohesiveness. In corporate leadership,  we must concentrate on the lowest entity, the lowest block in the team to build Team Culture.

To build  Team Culture We must:

1. Provide an inspiring vision

2. Define shared values

3. Set stretch goals

Following traits are important for Team Work

1 Professional competence

2 Confidence Sharing

3 Unbiased Decision making

4. Helping in need

5 Good expression

6 Encouraging others

7 Working without supervision

We conclude with following famous quotes

 1. Team Work is the ability to work together toward a common vision.

 2. Team Work is the ability to direct individual accomplishment toward organizational objectives.

 3. Team Work is fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results.

 4. TEAM means “Togetherness Empower All Mankind”

Success

Posted by: mohans

Tagged in: Untagged

Success does not mean absence of Failures.

Victory is not  winning each and every Battle, but Victory means winning the ultimate War.

Success and failure are dependent  on the relative work we are performing.  Suppose you are applying for a job. Due to heavy competition , even though you are highly qualified , you may not be selected: we cannot count this as failure as you may try for another.

Our birth is an experience. we gain success by trial and error in our life experiences.
Our life is like unpolished diamond. Experience gives polish to this diamond. Finally we learn the art of living and glitter like a diamond.

Success requires hard work and it sometimes brings in suffering, but there is great difference in sufferings in life and sufferings in the path to success. The latter suffering would invariably bring in success but the former suffering may drain the energy of the person.  Hard work and success are both related to each other. Hard work is directly proportional to success  and you will surely succeed if you work hard!!

At its basic level it is mere instinctive means of survival and self preservation. When a lion chases a deer, it means life to either of them. The lion faces starvation or the deer faces death, due to failure of either. We, the humans beings try for a win-win situation, where we preserve the species that gives us food, life, and sense of security. From this basic level, we try to stipulate various parameters for higher benchmarks of successes.
Thus two types of performers spring up. Those who succeed for their own purpose, and those who succeed for others. Some of those who succeed for their own purpose at time also happen to contribute that success directly or indirectly for others.

Those who succeed for others have a larger Definition of  'self'. The youth generally get confused when some of the definitions of successes prescribed by elders around seems narrow, self- centred  personal-gains-oriented. In my opinion, results as viewed and measured by self standards lead to the perception of achievement. Success, however, needs to be judged as viewed and measured by people around us. Success is therefore defined by those who "achieve" it convincing the members of  community / society.

Success is a psychological or behavioural judgment and not a mathematical or scientific evaluation. The logic is not absolutely irrefutable, but it is firm and uniformly applicable within a given framework of time and context.

Some Quotes on Success

Success is a ladder that cannot be climbed with your hands in your pocket. Success is simple. Do what's right, the right way, at the right time. Success means having the courage, the determination, and the will to become the person you believe you were meant to be. The greatest barrier to success is the fear of failure. A great leader's courage to fulfill his vision comes from passion, not position. Victory is sweetest when you've known defeat. Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success.

If you love what you are doing, you will be successful. To succeed in life, you need two things: ignorance and confidence. Moderation is a fatal thing. Nothing succeeds like excess. Success is focusing the full power of all you are on what you have a burning desire to achieve. Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value. ~Albert Einstein Success without honor is an unseasoned dish; it will satisfy your hunger, but it won't taste good. ~Joe Paterno If at first you don't succeed, do it like your mother told you. ~Author Unknown Eighty percent of success is showing up. ~Woody Allen As you climb the ladder of success, be sure it's leaning against the right building. ~Quoted in P.S. I Love You, compiled by H. Jackson Brown, Jr. If at first you don't succeed, you're running about average. ~M.H. Alderson Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm. ~Winston Churchill What is success? It is a toy balloon among children armed with pins. ~Gene Fowler We never know, believe me, when we have succeeded best. ~Miguel de Unamuno, Essays and Soliloquies, 1925 Sometimes I worry about being a success in a mediocre world. ~Lily Tomlin I couldn't wait for success... so I went ahead without it. ~Jonathan Winters There is no point at which you can say, "Well, I'm successful now. I might as well take a nap." ~Carrie Fisher Don't aim for success if you want it; just do what you love and believe in, and it will come naturally. ~David Frost Some people dream of success... while others wake up and work hard at it. ~Author Unknown Success: To laugh often and much, to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children, to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends, to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others, to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded! ~Ralph Waldo Emerson In order to succeed you must fail, so that you know what not to do the next time. ~Anthony J. D'Angelo, The College Blue Book I dread success. To have succeeded is to have finished one's business on earth, like the male spider, who is killed by the female the moment he has succeeded in courtship. I like a state of continual becoming, with a goal in front and not behind. ~George Bernard Shaw, 28 August 1896 Those who have succeeded at anything and don't mention luck are kidding themselves. ~Larry King Success has made failures of many men. ~Cindy Adams Some aspects of success seem rather silly as death approaches. ~Donald A. Miller Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it. ~Author Unknown

Inculcating “Sanskar”

Posted by: mohans

Tagged in: Untagged

Sanskar means carrying  family values and attributes. Sanskar helps achieving spiritual nourishment and peace of mind While we  grow. Sanskar give a spiritual touch to us. Meaning of Sanskar' is to purify, to refine, to supplement, to brighten and to adorn the inner conscience. However its meaning in wider sense is as deep as the depth of the ocean and as vast as the spread of the sky.

'Sanskar' is a process, which transforms a person into an ideal & outstanding personality by eradicating/ diminishing the negative mental tendencies existing in him and by inculcating human values & qualities to make him more dynamic, discreet, duty conscious and responsible towards himself as well as the society.

'Sanskar' is like plantation of a seed of human values into the subconscious of a person during his childhood so that adherence of these values becomes part of his nature and keeps on guiding him throughout his life. A person acts according to the ideals which exist in his subconscious without being aware of them. Thus his decisions, his reactions to actions of others and the quality of his actions depend upon the values existing in his subconscious. Conduct and behaviour of a person are always according to his inner values, which remain his guiding force. Sanskar' purifies feelings, thoughts and actions/deeds and adds momentum of life. Sanskar purifies inner conscious of the person and makes life meaningful.

'Sanskar' adds good conduct, good thoughts and human qualities to a man's personality and sublimates his mind. . A man sans human values is like an animal. . Sanskar forms a culture and develops social values. The Culture, Conduct, Behaviour and Sanskar are integrated to each other

A Hindu Mother is the heart of the home. Giving love and understanding and having patience and good listening skills will all help to build Sanskar in her children. Setting by good example earns respect and these attributes & traits follow down the family tree. We must always make time for our kids and have a good sense of humour and  try to be calm always.

Rewarding good behaviour of child really does help. Treasure of Sanskar during the early years of life help children to be successful in life. If you are calm and positive then your home is a happy home and everyone will want to keep coming back. The Woman of the house has a great responsibility to make this all work together in harmony.
So a Mothers influence is very important and can mould her children into positive loving adults. We must be  very open and honest and trusting with our children. We must not  make a BIG deal when our child does something wrong, as long as he informs  us what he did. There after we should advise  him so that he understands and is capable in differentiating Good & Bad.

No matter how loving the parent-child bond, parents inevitably heave a sigh of relief when their adult kids finally start paying their own way and become self-sufficient.

Creativity

Posted by: mohans

Tagged in: Untagged

Creative thinking is more important now a days than ever before due rapid pace of  development in technology. We  need creativity to be  successful in all spheres of our lives.

Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire You desire what you imagine and at last you create what you desire.

Imagination Imitates. Creative minds are rarely tidy and negative thinking is enemy of creativity

There are four ways to increase the level of creativity

1)    Create an environment conducive to more creative thinking

2)    Surround your self with more creative people

3)    Find ways to build up the creative ideas

4)    Brain Storming  - brainstorming can help us not only come up new ideas, but can also help us decide which is best idea.

Brainstorming can be an effective way to generate lots of ideas on a specific issue and then determine which idea – or ideas – is the best solution. Brainstorming is most effective with groups of 8-12 people and may be performed in a relaxed environment. If participants feel free to relax and joke around, they'll stretch their minds further and therefore produce more creative ideas.

Where do these creative  ideas come  from? We must find Inspiration for creative ideas in books, magazines, newspapers, on the internet, journals, and any where else we can think of and find inspiration for getting the creative ideas.

You may get creative ideas by any of the following methods

  • When Getting  Relaxed – Keep a  paper & Pencil next to you &  write down your thoughts when getting relaxed.
  • Giving Gratitude - Thinking about all things you are grateful for produces a positive energy flow and vibration. ( we feel the love in our hearts for all the wonderful blessings and gifts in our lives, We will instantly relax and feel all warm-and-fuzzy inside. In that moment of warmth and love, we are open to creative energy)
  • Imagination – Imagination is highly visual. Try closing eyes, and imagine
  • Be In the Moment – Live the ongoing moment of life.
  • Be Inspired - Practice seeing beautiful things that moves you emotionally.
  • Draw -. “Drawing” forces us to see things differently.
  • See Alternatives - Be curious to find alternatives to do something differently..
  • Be Open - Never shut down any idea that comes your way, do not make judgments about it. Appreciate any idea that comes to you, even ones that seem “stupid” or “obvious”. This way, you encourage more creative ideas.

Attitude

Posted by: mohans

Tagged in: Untagged

Attitude is an expression of mind.

Whatever is in our Mind is clearly shown in our attitude. For example, If we think that others are inferior to us then we  have a tendency to put others down. This  could also mean "show off. We must  treat others the way  we would like to be treated.

If we  like someone then our attitude shall  be positive towards that person and  our behaviour shall  also be favourable and the reverse may lead to unfavourable behaviour. We must not forget that

the only disability in our lives may be our bad attitude

Attitude directs our behaviour. Attitude is a complex mental state involving beliefs and feelings and values and dispositions to act in certain ways. At times we are un able to distinguish between Attitude & Proud. Proud means displaying great dignity or nobility

While a  lot of things go into a person's attitude For example experiences, emotions, self will, desire etc etc.

Having a positive mental attitude is asking how some thing can be done rather then saying it can not be done

If we call our trouble experiences and remember that every experience develops some latent force within us then we will grow vigorous & happy, however adverse our circumstances may seem to be.

We  should have positive attitude towards fellow human beings because it depends upon us if we want to make goodwill towards others
It is the great struggle in life to be able to control our actions by first controlling our thoughts and desires. As we learn to  control over our thoughts and desires then the right attitude develops within us.  As we develop the right attitude then our attitude helps us to maintain the desired behaviour. Don't try to stop negative thinking, but pay these negative thoughts  no mind and then we discover that negative thoughts disappear and we  return to inner awareness & there after we  behave in a positive way. Eventually we develop a more positive attitude. It starts with just this awareness in our heart that grows into conscious thought and develops into an action that becomes our habit and finally determines our life time behaviour.

We can not control what happens to us but we can control our attitude towards what happens to us and in that we will be mastering change rather then allowing these happenings to master us

We must try to inculcate such traits so that we are polite to others,  no matter how rude others could be to us.  I know it's sounds silly. We should not be teaching  people, how to say please, thank you, excuse me etc etc. However we may get  surprised to note that we generally miss these traditional skills at times,  when they are desired most.

To sum up Attitude is our general disposition – Our mental starting point for viewing life, events & and people around us. Optimistic people transmit positive attitude as they view the world in more friendly manner.

Effective Intelligence & Emotional Intelligence

Posted by: mohans

Tagged in: Untagged

We dwell in a world that is full of limitations &  mysteries as well as involuntary phenomenon which must be manoeuvred. Thousands of us have pushed our limits much further by our incessant hard work and extravagant effective intelligence. Effective Intelligence’ is a tried and tested route to improve thinking about things that matter to everyone. For example: planning, problem-solving, strategy, persuading and influencing, innovation, decision-making, creativity and learning. Effective  intelligence is our ability to build mental-models that explain the world around us. The accuracy with which we build our mental models determines how well we are able to identify options available to us for utility maximization. . Effective  intelligence is the ability to conceptualize the past and to use that data to make affirmative decisions about the future. This is what separates us from the animals; understanding the 4th dimension, time, on a theoretical level and applying that understanding to effectively control the  future events by processing large amounts of raw information/data into recognizable patterns which can be extrapolated/trended to predict an outcome or applied because the information/data has some inherent utility.

An individual may have a high Effective Intelligence  but lower emotional intelligence. In order for the person to communicate very effectively, the emotional intelligence must be brought up. Awareness, control and management of one's own emotions and those of other people is called emotional intelligence. Emotional Intelligence is the ability to monitor one's own and others' feelings and emotions and to use this information to guide one's thinking and actions. Emotional Intelligence is the ability to perceive emotion & integrate emotion to facilitate thought process  & understand emotions and to regulate these emotions to promote personal growth.

Effective intelligence comprise both ie Self-awareness & Social awareness. Self-awareness is the ability to read one's emotions and recognize their impact while using gut feelings to guide decisions and Self-management  involves controlling one's emotions and impulses and adapting to changing circumstances. Social awareness is the ability to sense, understand, and react to other's emotions while comprehending social networks.

Emotional intelligence refers to developing successfully, and realizing our potential we not only need to build on our strengths but also work on our weaknesses, particularly thought patterns and emotions that can impair our ability to manage future challenges and hardships we will encounter.

The following are some of the key characteristics of  Emotional Intelligence:

Emotional awareness: the ability to notice our feelings as & when  they occur.

Resilience: the ability to sooth ourselves, to move out of , or bounce back from, states of distress by being able to "take time out", to stop, "cool off" and recompose.

Self-control: the ability to control self gratification and persist with goals despite setbacks and upsets; for example, commitment to, and persistence in, pursuing longer-term goals.

Empathy: a fundamental social skill, being able to understand people by being better attuned to their feelings.

To sum up if we possess both effective and emotional intelligence we shall be able to understand and interact effectively with others. And shall be able to adjust with sensitivity to the moods and temperaments of others and enhance our ability to entertain multiple perspectives. Teachers, social workers and politicians generally  exhibit interpersonal intelligence. Young adults with this kind of intelligence are leaders among their peers, are good at communicating, and seem to understand others’ feelings and motives.

COURAGE

Posted by: mohans

Tagged in: Untagged

True courage is not the absence of fear—but willingness to proceed in spite of it. There are examples of brave men having exceptional courage. In spite of knowing that they could lose their lives, they still set out to walk into thick jungles, and sail over unknown seas. What a great deal of hardships and difficulties they must have had to encounter! They were able to overcome these because of their determination and courage. Even today, men continue to display their fearlessness. Brave men dive into the depths of the oceans to discover  the mystery of the deep ocean. They fly into outer space, knowing that they may never return, and then there are those who are willing to lay down their lives in the service of their country.

I believe you have to have courage to succeed in just about everything you do. If you don’t have courage , you'd be just sitting in a corner sucking your thumb.

In life, one must have the courage to stand up for what they believe in, courage to be oneself and the courage to go out and experience new things

Bravest are surely those who have the clearest vision of what is before them, glory and danger alike, and yet notwithstanding, go out to meet it. Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage

Everything depends on what is in our hearts. If we decide to ourselves that something is impossible, then, consistent with our minds in thinking so, even something that is possible for us will become impossible. On the other hand, if we have the courage that we can definitely do something, then we are already one step closer to success.

Life is the sum of experiences that we encounter as we go through life. Day to day to struggles and triumphs are experienced by all of the world's creatures. When we encounter  challenges, we have freedom to choose how to react. Every decision that we make leads us down another road. We will never come to exactly the same crossroads. Every decision that we make has significance. The tiniest choice that is made reverberates throughout the entire universe. We can't be useful to ourselves unless we're useful to others. Whether we like it or not, we're all connected, and it is unthinkable to be happy all by oneself. Anyone concerned only by his own well-being will suffer eventually. Anyone concerned with the well-being of others takes care of himself without even thinking about his fears. Even if we decide to remain selfish, let us be intelligently selfish. Courage is doing what you're afraid to do. There can be no courage unless you're scared.. Courage grows when you learn to resist and stand up to your fears.  Courage is being without fear. Bravery is doing something regardless of your fear.

To Sum Up “Courage grows when you can go from failure to failure without losing conviction and hope”

Leadership & Co-operation

"Some are born great, some achieve greatness and some have greatness thrust upon them” Great deeds make Great men.

Some people are born leaders with an inner compulsion or urge,  which drives them to accomplish great tasks. Some people achieve greatness because their faculty of mind is groomed in a discipline to acquire leadership qualities.........this is done so as to channelize their innate qualities of leadership into a proper direction.

Leadership may be defined as ability to do group work and to organise group work.. A leader is a person who leads or exercises dominion over a group of people" Real leader is one who leads crowds by his brilliant ideas. Leadership is a process of directing the behavior of others toward the accomplishment of some common objectives ie an  art of getting someone else to do something you want. The Foundation of Leadership is connecting with People. it's about creating a favorable link between your internal nature with beliefs and values, and the external world where you go to work

Famous Quote:

To handle yourself  - use your head

To handle others     - use your heart

Discipline  is the backbone of one personality and is  key to success Discipline is a set of rules that one needs to obey......for the betterment

A good leader is one  who is disciplined and make others inspired to follow the disciplined path........

The most important quality of leadership  is extraordinary performance  with an aim of achieving extraordinary results. These results then serve as an inspiration for others to perform at equally exceptional levels.

People ascribe courageous leadership to those men and women who they feel can most enable them to achieve important goals or objectives

Leading for the sake of leading is foolish. Knowing what you are good at, and being even better at it, is more important than trying to be good at something you aren't. Good leaders know how to lead, great leaders know when to follow. Co-operation is basically working mutually for a short or temporary span of time. e.g. we co-operate while standing in a queue at public place whereas, co-ordination is working mutually for long course of time. Co-operation is short term and Co-ordination is long term. Cooperation leads to productivity, team morale, and a generally good working atmosphere. Cooperation is a necessity of peaceful accomplishment of task. Cooperation is an act or instance of working or acting together for a common purpose or benefit; joint action Decision making, Sharing Ideas with all, thinking  positive & effective implementation of Plans are the attributes of good leadership.

Effective Leadership may be defined as providing ideas and guiding people contribute so that they  accomplish extraordinarily.

Four basic step of effective leadership are .

1)   Always have a broad vision towards every opportunity and problem...
2)  Always be confident of your Decision making Capabilities
3)   Entertain your friends & enemies equally
4)   Never take any one lesser than u

Social cohesion

Tagged in: Untagged

Social cohesiveness is  a term used to describe the bonds or "glue" that bring people together in society.. Social cohesion is a multi-faceted notion covering many different kinds of social phenomena. Social cohesion is a concept that describes  connectedness, including family and community well-being. An organization having social cohesiveness among its members can function effectively.

Social cohesion is developed through the nature and quality of interrelationships between members of any community.  It manifests in the sense & soul of community. Social cohesion is also linked to economic development.

Policies which support social cohesion may also bond people to a bigger extent.

Over the centuries religion & cast System  have been playing important part in maintaining social cohesion.  Society is organised along the belief of maintaining good social behaviour & Cherished moral values.   Religious  values unite society and define social behaviour of individuals. During Pre Partition Days, Arya  Samaj was a movement to support Social cohesion.  Major principle of the Arya Samaj was promotion of well being of the entire humanity , physical, spiritual and social development of Community members. Those Aryan pioneers held the flag of the Arya Samaj aloft and kept it flying despite numerous odds that they faced.  Our Community leaders must also pay extra attention to the physical wellbeing of  the compatriots for bringing in social cohesion, while taking care of the physical well being of community members.

Emotional stability of the individuals & families,  has also to be taken care of. If individuals & families are emotionally stable, community development shall take place at a faster pace.

Let us hope and pray that our brothers and sisters march forward in unison by selecting the aforesaid social cohesiveness and participate in Community building.
